Mr. Rajinder Kumar Kaura, Chairman and Managing Director, Bergen Group of Companies is 1973 passout in Electrical (Hons) having Master’s Degree in Power Systems (Norway) & M.Sc Engg (PEC). With nearly 43 years of contributions in conventional and non conventional power & electronics field, he is pioneer and pathfinder in developing solar & electronic industry in India. His contributions in bridging the gap in standards of living between rural and urban population through generation of solar power and skill development has earned him tremendous respect and recognition by countries like Norway, Japan, Germany, etc besides State and Central organizations.
In his glorious career Mr. Kaura has also imparted knowledge to the engineering students of various colleges by nurturing their understanding of fundamental concepts and by developing problem-solving skills, they need for their academic advancement. His 30 plus years of experience in the work field comes from the govt. as well as the pvt. Sector, where he has successfully brought world class technology to Indian grounds and enabled growth in the Indian Automobile, Electronics & Renewable Energy Field.
Time and again, his work has propelled him to distinguished posts such as President SMTA (Surface mount Technology Association); former president of IPCA (Indian Printed Circuit Association); Founder Member of EDCI (Electronic Designer’s Council of India) and now the Senior Vice President, Solar Energy Society of India. An outright Scholar since early days, his NORAD Scholarship led him to Norway, where he was influenced immensely by the power of the sun and its impact in the lives of people everywhere. He returned back with the aim of ''doing something substantial for his country’’; a dream which today is bringing light into the lives of countless Indians.
Having successfully carried out turnkey projects for major industry giants like Videocon, Bharti, Moser Baer, Indosolar and actively engaged in upgrading the education standards in IIT's, ITI's and more, he has always believed in the blessing of Lord Saraswati to enable people's ambitions and strengthen their resolve in sustained development for all mankind. A pioneer in the field of electronics, Mr. Kaura has played a key role of catalyst in setting up of PV, PCB, Telecom, Solar Thermal & other allied industries.
A visionary and dedicated worshipper of Goddess Saraswati, Mr. Kaura conceptualized and launched a research and training institute named BIRDS (Bergen Institute on Research for Development of Skills) to impart training in the field of renewable energy in general and Solar Energy in particular. BIRDS has signed a MoU with Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP), a 90 years old institute, training graduate engineers in thermal power generation and transmission and distribution of power. He is determined to provide dedicated skilled manpower for solar energy generation to fulfil ‘Make in India’ concept of Government of India.
Mr. Kaura has been awarded by Central Board of Irrigation and Power for the Best Contribution in Solar Energy in the year 2016. In addition he has also been awarded by Energy and Environment Foundation Global Excellence Award 2014 in Renewable Energy for Vision, Leadership and Outstanding Contribution for excellence in Renewable Energy Sector. His contribution has also been recognized by Renewable Energy Promotion Association (REPA) by bestowing him with Honorary Global Fellowship in Renewable Energy in 2016.
A humble person by nature, his active pursuit lies in empowering youth and rural India, which is a passion most dear to his heart. Having successfully executed nearly 40 rural electrification programmes, Mr Rajinder Kumar Kaura lies at the pinnacle of what can be described as our personal triumph of light over darkness.
